Ongoing Underwater Tire Removal

Volunteer divers have recovered and removed an additional 4 abandoned car tires from the underwater area of Point Lobos State Marine Reserve.

This work is part of an ongoing project to document, catalog, and remove abandoned tires.

This latest batch of 4 tires was collected from the sand near the “Twin Peaks” formation, at the North-West edge of Whalers Cove.

This project is conducted under a CA Fish and Wildlife Scientific Specific Use Permit #S-220350009-22038-001, and with approval from CA State Parks, and NOAA MBNMS.
